Kelsey Report: More SMBs Advertising Online than in Traditional Media

This one kinda slipped through the cracks last week: The Kelsey Group says online/digital advertising among small- and medium-sized businesses has surpassed traditional media advertising for the first time. From the news release : Findings from the latest wave of BIA/Kelsey’s Local Commerce Monitor study, conducted with research partner ConStat, indicate the penetration of digital/online media increased from 73 percent in August 2008 to 77 percent in August 2009, while that of traditional media decreased from 74 percent to 69 percent during the same period . Penetration is defined as the percentage of SMBs using a given type of media, irrespective of spending level. (emphasis mine) Also of note, overall ad spending is down but digital/online spending by itself is up. There are a few more stats about that in the release. I don’t know if the study shows this, but it’d be nice to see this broken down by industry. Real estate, I’m sure, is shifting heavily away from traditional spends to online/digital. Hey! RSS Subscriber: Have you purchased my e-book, “How to SEO Your Site in 60 Minutes”? If not, what are you waiting for? It’s only $25 (for the time being). Find out why Search Engine Guide said, “I can almost promise that following the advice in the book will earn you your money back ten to one hundred times over.” Here’s where to learn more: E-Book: How to SEO Your Site in 60 Minutes .
